Conservatories Edinburgh, Get A Quote
Edinburgh Doors And Windows has been adding conservatories to homes across Edinburgh and the surrounding Lothians for years. If you want more living space without the cost and disruption of a full house extension, a well-built conservatory is a practical and attractive option.
A conservatory done properly gives you a room you can actually use. Not just a space that bakes in July and freezes in January, but a proper part of the house, warm in winter and comfortable all year round. That comes down to the quality of the glazing, the roof, and how well everything is fitted together.
What types of conservatory do you offer?
There are several styles to choose from, and the right one depends on your property, your garden, and how you plan to use the space. A Victorian conservatory suits traditional stone Edinburgh homes well, with its curved bay front and ornate ridge detail. An Edwardian style gives you a more square, open floor plan, which works better if you want to fit furniture in comfortably.
Here is a full list of the conservatory styles available:
- Victorian - three or five facet bay front, classic ridge detailing
- Edwardian - square or rectangular, maximises floor space
- Lean-to - simple pitched roof, suits bungalows and smaller properties
- Orangery - solid brick or rendered pillars, tiled roof with central lantern light
- P-shape and L-shape - combining two styles for larger footprints
- Fully tiled sunrooms - solid insulated roof throughout, more like a proper room extension
If you are not sure which style suits your home, our designer will come out, take a look at the space, and talk you through the options. There is no charge for that visit and no obligation to go ahead.
What glazing options are available?
All our conservatories are built with double or triple glazed units as standard. The glass is A-rated for energy efficiency, which means it keeps heat in during winter and reduces glare and overheating in summer. That makes a real difference to how comfortable the room feels day to day.
For the roof, you can choose between a polycarbonate panel system, a self-cleaning glass roof, or a fully solid insulated tiled roof. The tiled roof option in particular performs closest to the rest of your house in terms of insulation and temperature control. It also reduces noise from rain considerably, which anyone who has sat in a conservatory during a Scottish downpour will appreciate.
Will my conservatory meet building regulations?
Every conservatory we fit is designed to meet current building control requirements. If your project falls within permitted development rights, we handle all the relevant checks as part of the process. For larger builds that do require planning permission, we can advise you on what is needed and point you in the right direction.
All frames are manufactured to comply with current energy efficiency standards, and we use thermally broken profiles to prevent cold bridging at the edges of your glazing. That is the kind of detail that separates a conservatory that performs well from one that just looks good on the day it is fitted.
How long does the fitting take?
Most conservatories take between five and ten working days to fit, depending on the size and style. An orangery or a P-shape build will naturally take a little longer than a standard lean-to. We will give you a clear timescale before any work starts so you can plan around it.
Our fitters work cleanly and tidy up at the end of each day. The base or foundation work is usually done first, then the frames go in, and the roof panels or tiles are fitted last. You will not be left with an open site overnight.
What guarantee do I get?
Your conservatory comes with a ten-year guarantee covering the frames, glazing units, and roof. That covers manufacturing faults and any issues with the installation itself. We are a local Edinburgh business, so if something needs attention, you are not waiting on a national call centre. You call us directly and we sort it.
The frames are made from low-maintenance uPVC or aluminium, depending on the style you choose. Neither requires painting, and both are designed to hold their finish for many years without fading or warping.
How do I get a price?
Getting a quote is straightforward. Call us on 0131 218 1657 and we will arrange a free, no-obligation visit at a time that suits you. Our designer will measure up, talk through the styles and glazing options, and give you a written price before you commit to anything. There is no pressure and no hard sell, just a straight conversation about what suits your home and your budget.
